On 2/5/12 at 10:45 PM, Troopers were dispatched to a two-car auto accident on the westbound side of the Southern State Parkway near exit 25N(Newbridge Rd).  When Troopers responded to that location, they observed a man, later identified as the driver that caused the accident, fleeing on foot northbound on Newbridge Road.  Troopers were able to apprehend him without incident.  Angelo Graci, age 61, of Elmont NY, was operating a BMW when he struck a Lexus from behind, before leaving his vehicle behind and fleeing on foot.  Troopers detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Mr. Graci.  Mr. Graci failed sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI.  The operator of the Lexus and two of his passengers were taken to Nassau University Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The defendant produced a positive breath sample of .22% BAC.  Mr. Graci was arrested for DWI, Leaving the Scene of a Accident with Injuries(A Misd.), and traffic violations.  All charges returnable in Nassau County First District Court.
