On 03/06/10, New York State Troopers headquartered at Canton conducted a check of premises licensed by the New York State Alcohol Beverage control board in the St. Lawrence County area. Seven bars were entered by Troopers in plain clothes along with an underage operative. In addition, the operative attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages at several retail establishments. Troopers are pleased to report that in each and every case, the establishments refused to sell alcoholic beverages to the under age operative. Thanks go to the hard work of the St. Lawrence County STOP DWI program and the training and dedication of the local establishments and their staff for this remarkable accomplishment! The businesses will be notified and officially thanked for their compliance by the State Police. Troopers will continue to schedule this type of detail in the future and welcome the public’s input. If you know of a local establishment that is serving alcohol to those under the age of 21, contact your local state police station or the New York State Alcohol beverage control board. Complaints to the ABC Board can be made at ABC.state.ny.us.
