State Police in Holland make "Leandra's Law" arrest

On July 30, 2010, at approximately 6:45pm, State Police in Holland arrested Kevin Dzwigal, 46, of Holland for Felony Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop on State Route 16 in the Town of Holland. Troopers stopped Mr. Dzwigal after he nearly collided with them, and found that he had been drinking and had his 15 year old son in the car with him. After failing a series of Field Sobriety Tests, Mr. Dzwigal was arrested for DWI and transported to SP Holland. He was charged with Felony DWI due to the fact that he had two previous convictions for DWI within the previous 10 years. He was additionally charged with Aggravated DWI because he was driving his vehicle while intoxicated and had a child under the age of 16 in the car with him at the time. This section is also known as Leandra’s Law and is a Felony charge in the Vehicle and Traffic Law. Mr Dzwigal was arraigned in the Town of Holland Court and released, to re-appear in court at a later date. < back
