The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Valley Stream New York are investigating a one car fatal automobile accident which occurred on the westbound Northern State Parkway west of Willis Ave., Searingtown, New York at approximately 6:30pm on July 30th, 2010. The accident involved a 2000 Nissan Maxima operated by Michael Preston; 49 years of age; of East Northport, New York. Also in the vehicle was his wife; Victoria Preston 49 years of age, their 12 year old son and Michael Preston’s father, Theodore Preston; 87 years of age. The initial investigation indicates Michael Preston lost control of his vehicle and ran off of the roadway, onto the shoulder and into the wood line, striking a large tree before coming to rest. As a result of this collision Victoria Preston was transported to North Shore Hospital in Manhasset, New York where she succumbed to her injuries despite heroic efforts at the scene and in the hospital. Theodore Preston succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced at North Shore Hospital in Manhasset. Michael Preston survived the collision and was transported to Winthrop hospital where he is listed as stable with unspecified fractures to his chest area. Their 12 year old son survived the collision and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center suffering from unspecified neck and internal injuries. The Northern State Parkway’s westbound lanes in the area were closed for approximately 4 hrs while State Police processed and recorded the scene for their investigation. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
