On July 17, 2010, New York State Police at Liberty responded 911 report of an ATV accident in the Town of Tusten involving serious injuries.
Responding Troopers from SP Liberty and SP Narrowsburg, along with Town of Tusten volunteer ambulance members discovered that the accident occurred along the railroad tracks near the intersection of Ackerman and Arrowhead Road. The All Terrain Vehicle being operated by David Curreri, age 26, with his passenger/sister Jodi Curreri, age 23, was traveling along railroad tracks that paralleled Ackerman Road. David Curreri lost control on the ATV, which plunge down a fifty foot embankment.
David Curreri was transported to Wayne County Hospital in Honesdale PA, where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival. Jodi Curreri was transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical, Valhalla NY, where she was admitted and currently listed in serious but stable condition.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
