Greenport man arrested for assault with a handgun

On February 22, 2012 the New York State Police in Livingston arrested MICHAEL EIGO age 62 after being dispatched by CC911 to a residence on Fingar Rd in the Town of Greenport. Investigation revealed that at approximately 12:30am Mr. Eigo shot a 52 year old male acquaintance in the leg with a 357 caliber handgun, while at Eigo’s residence. The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center via helicopter after being treated by Greenport Rescue. At this time the victims injuries do not appear to be life threatening. 
Mr. Eigo was charged with assault in the 1st degree, a class B felony and Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, a class D Felony. Mr. Eigo was arraigned before the Honorable Robert Brenzel, Town of Greenport Court, and remanded to the Columbia County Jail with no bail being offered. 
The Columbia County District Attorneys Office assisted with this investigation.
