Steuben County inmate for an altercation that occurred inside the Steuben County Jail

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit reports the arrest of a Steuben County inmate for an altercation that occurred inside the Steuben County Jail on January 29, 2012. At approximately 12:23 PM On that date, two inmates were involved in a physical confrontation that ended with one inmate being transported to Ira Davenport Hospital for treatment to a facial injury sustained during the altercation.

Charged this afternoon in connection to the incident was Inmate Brian D. Cone, age 18, formerly of the City of Hornell, Cone was charged with one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony, for his involvement in the altercation. At the time of the altercation Inmate Cone was incarcerated in the Steuben County Jail out of the City of Hornell Justice Court on the charges of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, Tampering vviith Physical Evidence and Petit Larceny.

Cone was arraigned in the Town of Bath Justice Court where he was remanded back to the Steuben County Jail on bail already set at $12,000 cash/$24,000 property. The Assault in the Second Degree charge on Cone is being transferred to the Hornell City Court to coincide with his other pending charges. Cone is scheduled to reappear in the City of Hornell Justice Court March 15, 2012 at 8;30 AM to answer all charges.
