Joshua Andrew Robert Anstett, age 18, of Caledonia Canada was involved in a motor vehicle accident inside the theme park of Darien Lake. The defendant was found to be operating a motor vehicle within the employee parking lot of Darien Lake and then drove over nine fence posts, striking three different chain link fences, a set of wooden stairs and was subsequently stopped by Darien Lake Security Officers inside the park venue.
The defendant was eventually arrested and issued traffic summons and directed to appear in the Town of Darien court on 06/12/2012 at 5:00pm.

On May 20, 2012, the New York State Police in Somers arrested DERRICK W. RUPRECHT, 40 years of age from Yorktown Heights, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Driving While Intoxicated. RUPRECHT was arrested subsequent to being stopped for failing to dim the highbeam headlights to oncoming traffic on State Route 35. RUPRECHT was driving with an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. Investigation revealed RUPRECHT to be intoxicated. Further investigation revealed RUPRECHT to be in possession of cocaine. RUPRECHT refused to submit to a chemical test. He was issued Uniform Traffic Tickets and an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Bedford Court on May 31, 2012, at 8:00 p.m.

On May 19, 2012 at 5:15 PM Trooper Jason Cresanti responded to a Personal Injury Auto Accident in the Town of Poland near Stone Rd. The investigation revealed Chester W. Fluke, age 51, 10 Prather Avenue Jamestown was westbound on State Route 394 when he rear ended a vehicle attempting to make a left handed turn onto Stone Road. The driver of the second vehicle, David A. Woodarek, age 32, 10332 Allegany Road South Dayton, NY complained of chest pains and was transported to WCA Hospital by the Kennedy Volunteer Fire Department where he was treated and released. Mr. Fluke fled the scene and was involved in a second accident on East Main Street at the intersection with Gerry-Levant Road in the Town of Ellicott after colliding with a street sign. Mr. Fluke fled the scene a second time and was located at his residence in the City of Jamestown. Fluke was arrested and a chemical test administered at the Town of Ellicott Police Department indicated a BAC of .12. Mr. Fluke was issued traffic citations for Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Leaving the scene of a Property Damage Auto Accident and following too closely. He is to appear in the Towns of Poland and Ellicott Courts at later dates.

On May 16, 2012 SP Jamestown was requested to respond to South Maple Street Ashville for a 911 report of a vehicle operator yelling at residents while traveling up and down the street with a loud muffler. At 11:40 PM Trooper Joseph Krywalski responded and located a black 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck fitting the description traveling northbound on Hoag Road in the Town of Harmony. Trooper Krywalski observed the vehicle being operated erratically and a traffic stop was initiated. The operator, later identified as Matthew J. Harrison, age 33, 1620 Manchester Road Kiantone failed to comply and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued onto Cherry Hill Road where Mr. Harrison lost control of his vehicle and spun into a ditch. Mr. Harrison proceeded to flee on foot into a field where he was captured by Trooper Jason Cresanti after a brief struggle without further incident. The Troopers detected a strong odor of alcohol beverage coming from Harrison who was visibly intoxicated and could barley stand. Harrison was arrested and transported to SP Jamestown where he was processed and refused a chemical test to determine his BAC. Harrison was arraigned on charges of Felony Driving While Intoxicated, Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree in the Town of Sherman Town Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail pending a bail recommendation by the Chautauqua County District Attorney.

On 05/15/12 at about 5:17 pm, Trooper Jason Cresanti was on patrol on State Route 474 in the Town of North Harmony executing a traffic stop. While attempting to exit his K-9 SUV patrol vehicle, Christopher E. Hewes, age 22, 3109 Open Meadows Road, Ashville operating a red F250 Ford pickup, placed his vehicle in neutral and intentionally revved the engine multiple times as it approached and passed the traffic stop. Witnesses stated Mr. Hewes, knowing it was Trooper Cresanti at the traffic stop, also moved toward the stopped police vehicle as it approached in an attempt to menace him. Trooper Cresanti executed a traffic stop on the Hewes vehicle and located a small quantity of hashish in two foil wrappers. After consultation with the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s office, Mr. Hewes was arrested for Reckless Endangerment 2nd, Menacing 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th. Mr. Hewes was arraigned in the Town of North Harmony Town Court and released to his mother. The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Lakewood Busti Police Department.

On May 18, 2012 at 4:25 PM Trooper Jason Cresanti responded to a Personal Injury Auto Accident on Cheney Road in the Town of North Harmony. Sonya L. Stratton, age 28, 5510 Cheney Road Ashville was eastbound on State Route 394 when she made a left turn onto Cheney Road. The turn caused 1 year old passenger Jordan Stratton, who was not secured in a child restraint device, to fall from the vehicle onto the roadway from the unsecured rear passenger door. The infant sustained minor injuries and was transported to WCA Hospital by private vehicle. Sonya Stratton was issued a traffic citation for failing to properly utilize a child restraint device returnable to the Town of North Harmony Town Court.

(Verona, NY – May 19, 2012) -
On 05/19/12 at 8:11PM, Oneida State Troopers investigated a 1 car rollover PIAA on ST-31, T/Verona near VVS High School. Investigation revealed that Cody J. Domena, age 17, Oneida, NY was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Trail Blazer westbound on ST-31. He lost control while passing another vehicle. His vehicle exited the north shoulder of ST-31 striking and severing a utility pole, then overturned. The vehicle came to rest in a field on the driver’s side. One passenger was ejected, transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital via Vineall Ambulance with head trauma. Another passenger was air lifted to Upstate Hospital via Mercy Flight with serious leg trauma. Their injuries are not life threatening. 6 other passengers were transported to area hospitals with various minor injuries. Verona FD, Vernon FD & Oneida County Deputies assisted at the scene. The road was closed for several hours while National Grid removed power lines from the roadway. Unsafe speed and driver inexperience appear to be the primary causes of the accident as the driver only possessed a learners permit. The investigation is continuing,
