Wrong Way DWI Arrest on Southern State Parkway

On 2/3/12 at 2:30 AM, Troopers were dispatched to the Southern State Parkway near Carlton Avenue, for multiple reports of a wrong way driver traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. Troopers were able to stop the vehicle, a gray Chevrolet Silverado, near Exit 42 (Fifth Avenue). The driver, John Brooks, age 28, of Huntington NY, admitted to taking prescription drugs earlier in the evening. Mr. Brooks failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI Drugs.
The defendant submitted to a blood test and was charged with DWI Drugs and several traffic violations. All charges returnable in Suffolk County First District Court.
